Q: What does "Geekruiter" mean?
A geek is a person with an eccentric devotion to scientific or technical pursuits.
A recruiter is a person whose job is to enlist or enrol people as employees of an organization.
A Geekruiter is a person whose job is to source, assess and enrol geeks as employees. Geekruiters understand technologies to be able to recruit geeks effectively.
Q: What is the Geekruiter Academy?
It's a new technical recruitment training program that gives you everything you need to know about technology, engineering teams, and technical talent - all in plain English. Everything online.
Are you asking why have we started the Academy or why don’t most recruiters have enough technical knowledge? 🤔
Well... learning technology can seem overwhelming and it's difficult to know what to learn. Knowing what is and isn't needed for technical recruitment requires insight and experience from someone who understands both software development and recruiting.
This is how Geekruiter helps recruiters with effective learning.
Q: What can your training do for me?
You can achieve these results:
- Have intelligent conversations with technical people
- Make smart candidate selections and confident decisions
- Identify high potential candidates that aren't obvious to the untrained eye
- Develop an effective recruiting strategy and execution plan
- Gain recognition for your talent acquisition contribution
Q: Who are the instructors?
Our instructors are technical experts in their fields.
We have mapped out the curriculum and learning outcomes for each course, based on recruiter AND developer feedback about the biggest challenges in tech recruiting.
We then partnered with tech leads to be the subject matter expert and instructor for our courses.
Unlike other tech recruiter training where you only learn from recruiters, our courses are taught by technical experts directly.
Q: Do you only cover PHP and Java?
No, we cover the full technology map. You will learn the most important stuff not only about programming languages and their frameworks, but also about business intelligence, DevOps, server administration, etc.
Q: Do I have to be technical to master technical recruitment?
No. The Geekruiter Academy makes understanding geeks simple, so you can master technical recruitment without being technical... and you can become a recruiting geek!
Q: How important is technical knowledge for technical recruitment?
Very. It's a core skill for technical recruitment and Geekruiter makes it easy for non-programmers to gain this knowledge.
Q: How long are the courses?
We’ve designed our classes with busy recruiters in mind.
Each lesson lasts about ten minutes. You can break up your learning to fit your schedule over a series of days or weeks.
Or, you can dive right in and complete a course in an afternoon.
Q: What if I have questions?
We are here to help! We know how intimidating it can be to recruit for roles we don’t quite understand.
Having access to ask questions makes a difference between spinning your wheels and knowing how to target your recruiting efforts.
All Geekruiters (= subscribed members) can submit questions directly to the instructor.
We also have a continuously growing resource library of webinars, blog posts and videos to provide additional resources based on the questions we’re getting from our community! Email us questions or ideas here: [email protected].
Q: Who are the members? Who can I talk to inside?
There are three main groups of members:
- Recruiters — get in touch to exchange best-practices.
- Developers & technical leaders — they share their know-how, give you feedback and help to understand the technology landscape.
- Hosts — that's us! Michal & Vlado, keen to help you grow professionally.
Q: For how long do I have to be subscribed?
You don't have to be! We don't force you to commit to anything. Just subscribe for the first month and see how you like the training.
You are free to cancel the membership anytime. This naturally pushes us to deliver a lot of value. And that's good for all of us!
At Geekruiter, we believe three months are the minimum what makes sense in order to get to the next level. You don't learn everything overnight.
Hence, we are big fans of continuous learning and growth. We'll support you as long as you find it beneficial.
Payments & Billing
Q: How do I pay?
You can easily pay with credit or debit card via PayPal.
If you are based in Europe and can submit a SEPA payment within the EU, we can arrange that, too.
We are working on other payment options, but they are yet to be released.
Q: Can my company pay?
Yes, of course. It's common for companies to pay a membership for their staff.
Q: Do I get an invoice?
